I was given the opportunity to complete a 6-week internship at White Rose Trading CIC in Nottingham as a Marketing Executive. It was my first insight into the marketing world as digital and graphic designer, and it definitely opened my eyes as to how powerful graphic design can be in the way that it is used. I worked in collaboration with the Marketing Assistant on ideation. This involved planning, developing and creating innovative content through to execution, to communicate and form relationships with donors in line with White Rose charity. I utilised Adobe software for creating print and digital collateral for advertising such as brochures, social media, flyers, website and e-commerce, whilst undertaking research to engage and liaise with companies, brands and the public about the charity by daily communication via email, social media or in person to encourage further donations (a few examples below). The thought process and drive of how I could use graphic design to reach out to customers was the underlying motivation and ambition that pushed me to create innovative work which increased the number of customers.
White Rose was established as a UK charity in 2016 and has a mission to prevent genocide and build peace in communities at risk of conflict and violence. It provides direct financial support for the work of the Aegis Trust through profits generated by investments. The Aegis Trust is an international organisation working to prevent genocide and mass atrocities. Born from the work of the UK Holocaust Centre and responsible for the Kigali Genocide Memorial. Aegis counters the potential for Identity-based violence and extremism through peace education. It builds long-term peace and saves lives by helping divided communities move from mindsets of mistrust to shared responsibility for peace and stability.
